My name is Codi Kern and I am the owner of this wonderful equine publication. First let me say thank you for checking out the publication’s website - I hope you enjoy perusing all that we have to offer.
To tell a bit about myself, I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2016, I graduated from UNLV with a Bachelor’s in Art focused in Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking. I also have an extensive background in essay and creative writing and a deep love for the written word. It was this love of art and writing coupled with my passion for animals that solidified my decision to take on the Valley Horse News publication.
So why horses? My roots are and forever will be tied to horses and animals of all kinds. They were a fundamental part of my upbringing and a thriving part of my future. I have my amazing parents to thank for instilling in me the heart and mind of an animal person, just one of their gifts that will remain with me until I leave this earth. Mom, Dad, I love you more than life itself.
As any true horse person can attest and, really, any tried and true animal lover will tell you: there’s no greater adoration and faithfulness than that of an animal. There’s a spark that lives in both humans and the animals that walk beside us that will forever keep us intertwined. It’s our history and our future. Period.
Outside of the publication, I spend my time dabbling in art and enjoying this thing we call life alongside my one in a million husband, Chris, my two pet birds Punky and Ivy, and our cat affectionately called Kitty. My husband and I will also be welcoming a daughter and future animal lover in October of 2022.
So there’s the long and short of my story with a few tears, a lot of love, and a sprinkle of animal hair thrown in. It’s been a pleasure introducing myself to you.
Be seeing you in the next edition … - Codi
